Finished Jane Eyre

Honestly...
It's hard to explain how moving an experience it was for me to read this book.
Elation, despair, agony, broken heart, triumph, utter happiness...
Poor Alyssa's borrowed copy endured a rain of tears.
No book has EVER had such an impact.
And I dare say I will NEVER read it again.
I don't think I could bear to leave Mr. Rochester and go through that again.
I will watch the movie, though. Tonight probably. And I'm going to enjoy it excruciatingly. Also, does anybody have any idea what any of these words mean?...
piquant, bombazeen, vouchsafe, genial, torpid, quiscent, opprobrium, consternation, virulent, diminutive...
That is also another reason why I may never read this book again. ( :

I LOVE this book. I read in in January and it is utterly BEAUTIFUL. I agree with you on so many points (although I think I will read it again someday). I think that Jane Eyre is the most beautiful, wonderful character who was ever created. And, no, I don't know the meaning of any of those words.

PS - Did you get scared at all? I was reading one particular part in the middle of a stormy night - you know which one I'm talking about! YIKES!

Jane Eyre is one of my favorite books ever!! (Can't decide if I like it or Pride and Prejudice better....maybe a tie?) I didn't like any movie versions until this one. It is one of my favorites!! The ending is absolutely fabulous. I'll admit that I sometimes fast-forward to the end just so I can watch it again (and, of course, all the mushy, romantic parts as well). Poor Brett...I've made him watch it several times. I don't think he can take much more of my Mr. Rochester obsession. :)

Ah, Jane Eyre, my favorite literary heroine ever!! You should see my copy of the book...I underlined all the words I didn't know and wrote the definitions in the margins, so I wouldn't have to try to remember them the next time I read it. And that version of the movie is so awesome! Steve gave it to me for mother's day. (Smart guy!)
