It's really hard to blog when you're playing house hookey, or house lookey for that matter. All I want to do is look at houses online everyday. There's this one in particular Spanish style home in St. George that I've developed quite the liking for (a mini obsession, if you will). I love the homes that are unique. I'm just not in love with the cookie cutters - no matter how nice or big they are.
Anyways, the reason I haven't posted what exactly we're doing and where we're going yet is because basically we're still in limbo. I mean, we pretty much kind of have an idea but I just thought I'd wait until everything is final to post about it. So that's that.

What I would REALLY like to blog about...

• how cute it was when Bo and I read books in front of the fireplace last night and then fell asleep.
• how Bryan met a Sandy Dermatologist on the plane yesterday.
• how routines are a word of the past when you don't really have a home.
• how working out is a thing of the past when you don't have a routine.
• how cookies are apart of every meal when you're at Grandmas.
• how somehow ever since I've been in Utah I feel like ratting my hair, bleaching it, and sitting in a tanning bed.

um, ok, out of time.

I am way stinkin' late getting on the bandwagon here (I know, I know)... ThePioneerWoman.com may very well be the best cooking blog EVER. A picture of every step? How did I miss this! And I've heard that she hasn't had a 'dud' recipe yet. Definitely worth checking out.
Still, if you want to make the best ever sugar cookies... the Picky Palate is the place to go. I've also had personal, credible referrals for the Picky Palate's ... Chicken Pot Pie Bowls & Puffy Croutons AND Baked Rigatoni Romano Florentine with Italian Sausage AND Pepita Crusted Southwest Chicken Mac N Cheese. All apparently 'Best Evers'.

Roomie Party XII: Favorite Things

I'm pretty sure I have the coolest college roommates ever. We get together at least once a year, sometimes 2 or 3. Last Friday we did an Oprah-esque Favorite Things party. I'm pretty sure it's the coolest idea for a party ever. We all brought one of our favorite things for everyone. Here is evidence of our loot...

My favorites out of all the favorites are Missy's round plate earrings and Lane's "Psssssssst: Instant Spray Shampoo". I'm all about not washing my hair. And then there's this...
Lash Stylist comb mascara by Maybelline. A Lane referral. MAC Zoom lash just wasn't cuttin' it in this extremely dry climate. Clump central. But this is just FAB!

Other items brought: Jergens shimmer lotion, steele cut oats, so-cute homemade fridge magnets (awesome, Sa), scour pads, Wet 'N Wild lip shimmer, and Wet Ones.

We collectively decided to have a favorite things party every year... till we're 90. I wonder what our favorite things will be then... interesting thought!
We also did some Lane-inspired painting. Our parties are becoming so culture-esque.

'Do Discrimination

One of my favorite things to do is try to go through airport security without a drivers license. I love it when they let you get on a plane and fly somewhere and then don't let you come home. My Fran-hair is the only reason I can think of why they let me on the plane in the first place. Here's how it went down:

SLC Airport: (Security guard looking down at my ID): "This is all you have?" (He looks up.) "Hm, you have great hair. Good enough. Proceed".

Seattle Airport on the way home: "You have no Drivers License? And you don't have great hair. You must be a terrorist. Step aside, ma'am. Please hold still while we do a cavity search and disarm the bomb in your carry-on.

Could there be such thing as 'Do discrimination?

I'm currently sitting in a super nice Marriot hotel room overlooking the Columbia River in Pasco, WA. I have no time to blog right now because Bryan will be here in 10 minutes and we're going to lunch with some of the Docs. I did want to let Fran know that it's day 3 and my hair still looks fabulous. There's other things I want Fran to know like how fabulous I think her family is and how I think she's secretly my 'sister'. I would love to blog about the plane ride out here and how I pretty much cried the entire time and how I left my wallet which contained my iphone, wedding rings, and financial security at the Gainesville airport. And how Fran got the call from the police man and thought I'd been in a horrible accident. I would love to blog about Bowen and Bryson and how much they love Bernie, Bonsie, Benny, and Louie (Jill & Rula's dogs). I would also love to try and explain how I've been feeling (an impossible task). Perhaps it's because I feel different every five seconds. It's like a roller coaster that's never ending. I'm up, down, stopping, going, interview here, there, everywhere. It's really too much for an over-emotional, melodramatic chic like myself to handle. Thank goodness for fabulous hair. Thank goodness for secret sisters.

After the carb sprint at the Olive Garden some of us went to Keri's for a 'healthy' helping of Paula Dean's Peanut Butter Cheesecake, continued interesting conversation, and... 27 Dresses!!!!!!!! A FABULOUS movie! MAYBE SOMEHOW SOMEONE will get it for me for Mothers Day. ( ;

A few other things...

• my car had a stroke. Seriously, Bryan's car was the one that was supposed to go first. It's got like 200,000 miles on it. I've decided to officially name my car Ruby. Ruby is at Transmission Auto patiently waiting out the weekend to receive, let's hope, only minor surgeries and a quick recovery since we're like leaving in 6 days.
  
• It's pleasantly nice to just throw away your plate and utinsels when you're done with them.
• I officially cannot wait for Roomie Party IX (jk, I don't know what number it is but I have made an official decision that it's time to keep track).
  
• Can you not guess what my favorite word is for this post?

The Screensaver

This was my friend, Claudia's, post about a week ago and I thought it was about the funniest thing EVER!...

Jon and I (Claudia) were watching television while eating lunch and a commercial of a girl in a shower trying to sell soap came on. I thought, how pathetic and very inappropriate. So then I turn to look at Jon to see if he agreed with me & noticed he was just staring at the t.v.! I turned off the t.v. and he was still staring at the screen. I said to him, "is that what you like, watching a women lather herself!" and he said, "I didn't notice. Anytime a women comes on t.v. my mind quickly turns on the screen saver and hibernates until it's safe."

Psycho Babble

Tonight I watched the recorded April 9th Episode of The Oprah Show: A New Earth Phenomenon: An Hour That Can Change Your Life.
Have you heard of this? Well, let me tell you... I LOVE this stuff. This is EXACTLY why I went into Psychology. I am absolutely PASSIONATE about this exact kind of thing.
Who is this guy... Eckart Tolle? I had never heard of him until now. His motto?: "The world can only change from within."

According to Tolle (in psycho babble terms) when you lose everything (such as going bankrupt) you become free of the 'ego' because the ego has nothing left to identify with and the basis of your life becomes the present moment. And this is the basis for everything... to come to an acceptance of the present moment.

I wish I could find some of the excellent quotes from the show... all from Tolle's book.

I really liked the story of this girl who always compared herself to others UNTIL she learned how to be present in her own life. And this allowed her to let go of the need to be better than others. It all rests within' the mind. IT ALL RESTS WITHIN THE MIND.

In this show they also explored death and Eternal Life and being Christlike. Great show.
